His mortal remains were paid respects by leaders including Pinarayi Vijayan and Antony, with the Kerala government declaring a holiday and three days of mourning. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) remembered him as a leader who represented three significant eras of communist history.

V.S. Achuthanandan, a prominent figure in Kerala politics and a long-serving Communist leader, passed away at the age of 101. Known for his mass appeal and commitment to class politics, he was a former Kerala Chief Minister and a respected figure in the state's political landscape. He will be cremated with full state honours on July 23.
