The Cour de cassation, France's highest court, has upheld the conviction of Nicolas Sarkozy in the Bygmalion affair, confirming his sentence for illegal campaign financing during his 2012 presidential run. Sarkozy, the former French president, has been definitively condemned to a one-year prison sentence and a €3,750 fine. Despite the finality of the decision, Sarkozy has not ruled out appealing to the European Court of Human Rights.
