Aminu Tambuwal, a prominent ally of Atiku Abubakar and former governor of Sokoto, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of a N189 billion scandal. Atiku has spoken out against Tambuwal's arrest, accusing the EFCC of targeting him due to his membership in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and suggesting that the ruling party is harassing and intimidating the opposition. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has also condemned Tambuwal's arrest, alleging political intimidation.
