An application for Demirtaş's release has been submitted, and the HDP has released a statement regarding the matter. Following remarks by Devlet Bahçeli, Demirtaş's lawyer has issued the first statement on his behalf, expressing that they are hopeful about the situation. An ally of President Erdoğan has suggested the possibility of releasing Demirtaş from jail. Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has stated that Demirtaş's release would be beneficial for Turkey. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has rejected the Turkish government's appeal regarding Demirtaş.
