Ukraine's Justice Minister, Denys Halushchenko, has been suspended amid a corruption probe led by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). Halushchenko has stated that he is not clinging to his position and will defend himself in court. The suspension comes after recordings, known as the "Mindich tapes," were released, featuring Halushchenko and other ministers. Oleksandr Zhelezniak, the head of the Presidential Office, has stated that all ministers involved in the tapes should be dismissed, but the Office of the Prosecutor General (OP) and the Cabinet of Ministers have decided not to dismiss Halushchenko and will minimally comment on the NABU investigation. Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched an operation called "Midas" to investigate the embezzlement of millions from state funds by Halushchenko's advisor and Energoatom's "overseer." There are suspicions that the Minister of Energy was not Halushchenko, but a long-time assistant of Ihor Kolomoisky, Oleksandr Myroniuk, as suggested by MP Oleksandr Nikolaenko. Prosecutors have also alleged that oligarch Ihor Mindich, a close associate of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, influenced Halushchenko and former Energy Minister Olga Umerova.
