Why jatah Is Trending Today?

Bihar and Nepal have coordinated to strengthen security at Jatahi border checkpoints during the ongoing elections. The Governor of Riau, Indonesia, has been accused by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of using a 'jatah preman' or 'mobster quota' method to extort money, with no mention of 'matahari 1' and 'matahari 2' quotas.

Gubernur Riau Abdul Wahid has been detained by the KPK for allegedly accepting and misusing 'jatah preman' (slush funds), including using it for personal travel abroad. The funds were reportedly obtained through various means such as personal savings, bank loans, and even pawning certificates. The KPK has uncovered a modus operandi where Wahid would demand these funds from his subordinates, threatening to remove them from their positions if they refused. The funds were often requested under the guise of 'jatah preman', with the amount sometimes reaching as high as Rp 7 billion.
