The ongoing fire in the Aude department has been spreading rapidly, with over 14,000 hectares already scorched, making it the most extensive blaze in France in at least 20 years. The fire, which started near Narbonne and Carcassonne, has affected 15 communes and has led to significant damage, with routes closed and evacuations ordered. As of now, the fire has consumed over 14,000 hectares, an area equivalent to the size of Paris, and has resulted in one fatality. More than 1,500 firefighters have been mobilized to combat the blaze, which is considered the most devastating of the 21st century.
