The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed various cases of corruption involving the Ponorogo Regency, including bribery for job rotations in the regional government, and a lack of public service competition in the region. The KPK has also uncovered three clusters of corruption involving the Bupati (Regent) of Ponorogo, Sugiri Sancoko, including bribery for job positions, a project at the local public hospital, and gratification. Following an On-The-Spot (OTT) inspection, the KPK seized around Rp500 million in cash and later named four suspects, including Bupati Sugiri Sancoko. The Bupati received approximately Rp2.6 billion and is now a suspect in a corruption case. The KPK has detailed three clusters of corruption involving the Bupati, including bribery, a hospital project, and gratification. The KPK has also named three other suspects apart from the Bupati following the OTT inspection. The KPK has also investigated the Bupati's younger sibling and trusted aides in connection with the case.

Bupati Ponorogo, Sugiri Sancoko, was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) along with 13 others during an operation targeting corruption in his administration. The operation, known as an OTT, also resulted in the arrest of the Secretary of Ponorogo Regency (Sekda) and the Director of the Ponorogo Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
