The 80th anniversary of Indonesia's independence was commemorated with a ceremony marking the exact moments of the Proclamation, led by President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace. General Prabowo Subianto also played a significant role in the event, reciting the Proclamation text at the Istana Merdeka. The ceremony featured a display of 100 female silat practitioners and the use of the historic "Garuda Prabayaksa" car to transport the Proclamation text and flag to the Istana. The event was preceded by the release of the Proclamation's sacred flag and text from the National Monument (Monas) by the Chief Presidential Staff, Ariyo A. Darmawan.
