George Simion, leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), has requested protection from the Special Protection Service (SPP) due to alleged discrimination against political opposition and receiving over 90 death threats. His request has sparked reactions from various political figures and institutions. Vasile Bănescu, a politician, ironically commented on Simion's request, stating that no one had shown such immense courage before. Alexandru Muraru, a member of the National Liberal Party (PNL), has asked the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) not to approve Simion's request for SPP protection. Claudiu Târziu, another politician, warned that instigation can lead to hateful acts and suggested that Simion reflect on his actions. Meanwhile, police have opened a penal case in response to Simion's accusations.
