The trio won the prestigious award for their groundbreaking work in developing metal–organic frameworks, a revolutionary class of materials capable of storing various chemical substances, particularly gases. These structures, also known as metal–organic frameworks, have potential applications such as capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and collecting water from desert air.
