The United Nations Convention against Corruption (UU KUHAP) has been officially approved, with the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkum) discussing the fate of the long-awaited asset seizure bill that has been pending in the House of Representatives (DPR) for 17 years. The new UU KUHAP will come into effect on January 2, 2026, simultaneously with the Criminal Code (KUHP). The DPR has approved the revised KUHAP (RKUHAP) to become a law, with 242 members present and thousands of security personnel on standby to control potential demonstrations. The new KUHAP, which has been discussed since 2023, does not regulate the police's authority to conduct wiretapping, seizures, and arrests without a warrant. Despite reports alleging violations of the law, the DPR has approved the new KUHAP, which will be officially enacted soon.
