Dan made these remarks in response to Simion's request for protection following numerous death threats he has received. Simion has expressed concern about a potential "political assassination" and has been granted SPP protection starting from the next day. However, Virgil Popescu, a member of the National Liberal Party (PNL), has been critical of Simion's request, questioning his courage and making ironic remarks. Simion has previously been involved in heated exchanges with Popescu, including allegations of aggressive behavior in Parliament and threats made against Popescu.
