The primar of Sinaia, under investigation for corruption, has been released from house arrest. The Bucharest Tribunal made this decision due to a delay in the DNA's proceedings.

Cristian Popescu Piedone, the former president of the National Anticorruption Prosecution Office (ANPC), has been sent to trial by the DNA for allegedly warning the International Hotel in Sinaia about an upcoming ANPC control. Piedone, who is also the mayor of Sinaia, was initially accused of alerting the hotel owned by the Rușanu family. Despite the charges, Piedone was not placed under house arrest. The DNA's decision to send Piedone to trial comes after he was first indicted in the case in late 2021. Meanwhile, in a separate development, Hristu George, the managing partner of Imo Invest Total, has announced that the Sinaia Plaza shopping center has passed its "maturity test" with all units fully rented and a waiting list for more retailers. The company is now planning to expand the center by an additional 2,500 square meters.

Sinaia, a mountain town in Romania, was severely impacted by a powerful storm, resulting in injuries, damage to infrastructure, and significant harm to historic sites including Castelul Peleș and Casa Memorială „George Enescu“. The storm also caused temporary disruptions to rail traffic between Sinaia and Bușteni, which has since been restored.
