The TGV high-speed rail network in southeastern France experienced significant disruptions following an act of vandalism. Over a hundred TGV trains were affected, causing delays of up to an hour and leading to numerous train cancellations. Passengers reported difficulties in returning home due to the widespread disruption. The incident is believed to be an act of arson, with the ministry of transport confirming the extensive impact on TGV services. The vandalism has also resulted in a tripling of losses related to thefts since 2021, with the SNCF struggling to manage the issue. While some services resumed later in the evening, full normalization was not expected until the following day.
